R18. Not as I know it, but an R18 under it all.

Wow, this could be approaching sole survivor status - these were rare even when new, and time was not kind to them. The mileage is probably a function of reliability and parts supply (funny cringe-worthy data in the ad) more than someone caring for it.

I don’t remember seeing one since high school, when there was a two-tone tan and olive green (!) one that I kept seeing around town. That was almost 24 years ago.

I think I might have seen a sedan for sale around here around 10 years ago, but probably been 25 years or more since I have seen a wagon, too. Tan and green, and I bet it had a brown or green interior.
I last saw a Fuego on the road about 6 years ago, I still remember it clearly.

I posted it on the obscure cars for sale page on Facebook, someone said they did a contest a while ago to see if anyone could find a Renault 18 for sale in all of North America, and couldn’t find any. I hope it goes to someone who wants to preserve it, it very well could be the last one in NA, or at least the last in this condition

Fuegos were a little more common. I don’t remember ever seeing an 18 sedan, but I did find an orange 12TL for sale in the early 90s. I still regret not buying it.

It definitely needs to be kept away from the crusher.

I think the one I saw last was maybe brown and gold. As I am on the west coast, they might have been less of a unicorn. I think I have only seen a 12 once or twice here, and I remember a 15TL for sale some time ago, too.
I remember when I was about 5, in the early 80s, I would go with my dad when he went looking at cars on Sundays. I wanted all of the promo material I could get, and had posters of the various Renault models, including the 18. Long lost to time, of course.

Here we go. Spotted in its home territory a couple of months ago.
No, you don’t usually see them there either.
